House of Makara is a Sri Lankan jewelry brand. We design luxury fine pieces with a story to tell, bringing the mystic of Sri Lanka to you. High-quality, minimalistic, timeless, and sustainable pieces for everyone and every occasion.

Inspired by the influential Makara, the sea dragon, a combination of an elephant, a lion, a pig, and a fish. Representing qualities such as strength, vision, respect, dexterity, and beauty. It is known to be the protector and guardian of important places, and the Makara symbol is often found in temples, architecture, and jewellery. Much like the Maharajas & Mughal Kings, Sri Lankan royalty were known to have incorporated Makara in their jewels.

We belive that every piece of jewelry tells a story and this is our design ideology. Our goal is to give you a piece of Sri Lankan mythology with a modern twist, therefore each of our collection pieces is created based on Sri Lankan legends.

All our jewelry is designed and crafted in Sri Lanka. We work exclusively with local artisans, intending to preserve craft community traditions and values. Each of our pieces is crafted in gold, white gold, rose gold, and sterling silver, with a wide range of precious and semi-precious gemstones. Also, our packaging is locally sourced from Sri Lanka, ranging from pung pouches to craft boxes.
